waitangi weekend

those that don't have school are not able to appreciate the waitangi weekend as much as we do.

i quote a friend's fb status.
its true! although we have only just started for a week, we are so thankful for the 3 day weekend! This friday and saturday, a friend and I will be going indoor rock-climbing. Let's hope the weather will be good for Sat. Tunnel beach! :D

Other than that, I have been trying to read my Talley O'Connor textbook. Got through the first 2 chapters.. and aiming for another two chapters today. But I keep falling asleep as I read.

Curry puff making later! Must not be lazy!

Earthquake?

Right, I shall continue my earthquake posts.

So, I haven't felt the smaller ones nowadays. Just the big ones which are shallower. Now I cannot remember if it was one week before or 2 weeks before, on a Saturday night, suddenly there was 3 earthquakes in 15 minutes.

All three were quite strong. I had my feet on the floor and I could feel the ground shook hard. I didn't move the first time as I thought it was just another one. When the second one came, the lights on the wall made 'noise'. Hey, even my fan was shaking hard. I thought it was weird having 2 so close together. I mean, this is like the fourth week already. When the third one came, I stood up, ready to run outside but it stopped 2 seconds later.

I knew that it will be on the news so I checked the press the next day. True enough, it was, mentioning that it was one of the strongest aftershocks.

I think it was a Tuesday night when another aftershock happened again. This time, I could feel the house was moved in a circle motion. I saw the tv antenna was moved to the right. Then, it was the clothes hanger (towards me). Next thing, I could feel myself moved to the left. I didn't notice the other side though. Gosh, it would be the lcd tv moved (away from me). I was facing these things when the aftershock occurred.

Since then, I haven't felt any. So, apparently we have felt more than 1000 aftershocks since the big quake. It is a good thing that these aftershocks didn't really affect the power in the region. Maybe some places but really grateful that we are all alright.

Last week of Sept

Would everyone come back here to check whether I am still alive? I wonder.. anyway, I still haven't got my site yet. Life is alright at the moment, nothing interesting apart from hanging out with friends. Studies aren't that interesting. Just the same stuff like assignments.

Anyway, ICF AGM was on Thursday and we had 2 new people joining the exec. The current execs are still staying on but some will be handing over the 'job' to the new execs. It's great to get to know more of those new execs members. 2 of the honory members will be moving on. I think they will not be in Christchurch next year. We're going to miss having them around. Hmm.. come to think about it, now the new execs are mostly Malaysians. Wow.. =)

Last night, ICF-ers went for bowling. I have to admit that sometimes I do feel a bit competitive. =) I do make a fool out of myself when it went into the gutter. And I thought I am ok from past playing experiences. How embarrassing.

On another note, I finished one assignment a day earlier than the due date. I am so proud of myself. Hehehe.. Oh but I still got 2 assignments to do. Ok, enough about the non-stop assignment babbles. I shall not bore you anymore.

I have some photos which I thought of putting up. You're just going to have to wait till I get the new site. Meanwhile, posts here are going to be just words.

3 more weeks till exams. Wish me luck. =)

Oh, I am going for a half day field trip on Monday so I shall blog about that when I get back. =) I shall ciao now.

Updates

The last last week was cold. It was hailing ice from Friday night till Saturday afternoon. For the first time in the year, I actually switched on the heater in my room. Hehehe.. now the weather has gone to being normal, meaning that it is supposed to be autumn weather. It is still cold.

Anyway, it was Mother's Day yesterday. That was Sunday. I had a relaxing Saturday, meeting in the morning, went to a friend's house and then head off to shopping mall to watch movie and bought few things from Briscoes. The stuff was on sale. I saw a bed sheet for $5 and I couldn't resist not buying that. When I paid at the checkout, it was reduced to $3. How cheap. =) I also bought a laundry basket for myself. My laundry basket which I bought from M'sia is already 'cacat-ed', the wire around it has gone in a weird shape and kept on poking at my leg when I took it to the washing machine. Iron Man is really a nice movie. Li, Em and I left right after the credits started. I read her blog after I got back from YAG Bible study discussion that the movie still continues after the credit finishes. I knew that we should have stayed. Sigh.. I so have to watch the movie again to see the ending.

Random photo. =) But this was taken in Milan Zara. It was so big, I thought it was a hotel lobby. That is me and lynnwei. JY koko managed to take the photo before the guard told him off from taking more photos.

Some problems with domain

Something is wrong with the other site I have so I cannot upload anything at all. At least I kept this site to blog when the other one is down.

I still haven't finish blogging about the conference lah. Sigh.. I have more to update about cave streaming. It was fun to go cave streaming. Walking in the water and it was very cold. I have photos to upload. But I will wait till I come back from both my field trip and church camp. I say, this is quite a good holidays, though I couldn't go back to London. I can if I don't have the field trip. And I think I did sign up for the church camp in the last week of the break last year. So, I would lose my deposit if I cancel going for it.

Anyway, I know it is going to be a long time waiting for me to blog. If it means I cannot use the .com domain, I would probably use back this site.

Right.. to go on hiatus now.

What I did?

Anyways, just to update since last Friday, I went on the field trip. It was at Victoria Park in Cashmere. We were given 45 minutes to go around the place, searching for sign controls which was mapped on a map. They counted how many minutes we were late to penalize the marks. There’s going to be a winner and I don’t think my buddy and I will get it. It was really tiring walking around. I am so unfit. I really have to go to the gym more.

On Saturday, my flatmate and I have to get up to go friends’ house to make kaya. Kaya is a coconut spread which we normally have for breakfast with bread. =) I was expecting more people to help but only one of the flatmate was there to help. We took turns stirring the beaten eggs while adding in sugar. It took the whole afternoon to get it done. My mum commented that the heat wasn’t hot enough for the kaya.

WZ, Emma and I took off to church BBQ in the middle of kaya stirring.

I should put up a photo of the place I went to for the field trip. Soon.

Looking blur now?

I want to show the photoshop plots. Hehehe.. this is going to be in my assignment but I bet the marks for this is only like 1/4 of it. Not much but at least I pretend to show that I do know how to use the computer package/programme to put them into 3 plots. It looks easy to put them in using photoshop but because I had to have some code to produce the histogram. For example, plot(hist(region)). Sounds easy but it is not when it comes to using more complicated terms. I spent almost a day figuring out how to use the split.screen code before giving up and use photoshop to do this.

Anyway, so far what have I been doing? Oh ya, this girl introduce me to use a free domain and it does interest me. Only I don't know how I can manage 3 blogs. Then, I thought why not I just completely not use one of the blog. Also, there's a hassle of telling people that I change my blog and them changing the url. It is definitely a good thing for one reason which I am not telling. So, I think I will think more about it.

I went to gym again on Monday and Wednesday, second and third time and I am running on the treadmill. I am increasing my exercise little by little and I am starting to sweat more whenever I go to gym. Feels good but I got stomach cramps that night. Is it due to exercise too much? But it can't be.

Updates

I was in a lecture and half way I was thinking about wearing my other flats on days I don’t have to walk a lot. My feet hurt when I walk. But I guess it is normal if the flats are new. Some part of my lecture was boring so I was dreaming away. I couldn’t help thinking about something else anyway. Anyway, I think my feet are not the same size. Whenever I wear shoes or flat, one side of the shoe is really tight and the other side is really loose. My feet are not perfect size. Oh ya, today one of my lecture classes was disrupted by emergency alarm. Don’t worry, it was just practice. But I cannot see anyone moving faster. Everyone seems to be taking their time to walk out from the s block building. I wonder if they will do that to Maths & Stats building. Lecturers and students from 7th floor will have a hard time walking down the stairs. Lift doesn’t work when there is an emergency. I got my first big assignment. There is so much to do for a 10% assignment in 300 level Stats compared to a 10% Stats assignment at 200 levels. When I review all my courses, I really cannot afford to miss Stats314 classes. Why is that? If I miss, I wouldn’t be able to understand when I read the notes. So far, I do understand when the lecturer explains.

And oh, I got an email of when my geology finals. Of all the two weeks of exam period, my geology paper is on the last day. I really have nothing to say. It is good that I have all the time but I really don’t like to finish on the last day.

Another thing I want to mention, I feel so happy when I saw the sun. This means that the clothes washed are dry easily. When I come back from class, I took the clothes outside. It is definitely not good when the wind is strong. I had to go downstairs to check whether the clothes hanger is standing up or lying down on the ground.

This year, I found out that I can connect my computer to uni network from an instruction from uni website. So when I was doing my assignment lab work using the computer packages, I gave up trying to use the computer packages to put in 3 plots in one plot background. I used photoshop instead. How helpful was that. I just finished doing that. I know it takes longer but at least I can do it now instead of waiting till tomorrow to ask my friend.

I am so sick of doing my stats assignment now. Have been cracking my head since yesterday, doing the lab work using computer packages but to no avail. Maybe I should rest and try again tomorrow. Hopefully I will have a new idea popping into my head by morning.

My room

My cousins asked to see my bedroom photo. Sorry for the messiness. I still don't have any new ideas on where to put my big containers. The wardrobe is not big enough for me to put everything in. Plus, I don't want to take out my clothes from the white storage container so I just left it inside. Ok, throw me any questions and I will answer them. :)

I am feeling very sleepy. Maybe it was the too-much-sleep from my holidays. I really have to get used to sleeping less now. I almost don't want to get up this morning. I set alarm at 8.15 but woke up at 9. Mian, seriously I need to get up at 8 to do lab work. But I am so sleepy. Hmm.. maybe drinking tea would be good but the problem is I was too lazy to get out from bed. How weird. I don't get that when I was staying in Ilam. In fact, I always get up to go online. This time, I wasn't very interested to go online the first thing I get up in the morning. Help.

5 March

Just now Emma and I had a flat meeting with our other flatmates. Our conversation was really interesting compared to the few previous flat meeting I’ve had when we were still flatting in Ilam. At least we talked and laughed about what we have talked about. This time, all my flatmates are Asians. Not that I say my previous flatmates are boring but I guess it’s just different personality. One of my flatmates was my ex-coursemate. Anyway, it was just a thought.

It has been 11 days since I came back to New Zealand and guess how many texts have I texted? 475. Very interesting, right? But have a guess at how many Emma has texted. 800+ that are in 2 weeks. She actually counted how many texts that we will have to use in order to finish the 2000 texts. Let’s say we have 12 hours a day, not including our sleep. You have to use 5 texts per hour. Very interesting and today one of my friend tried one word per text on me. I don’t know many she sent to me; she was asking me when I finish my class. I think it was around 7 texts including my name.

Updates

I am here to update again. Where did I stop the last time? Ah.. I stopped at where I was about to be late for class. Yup, I saw friends and felt a bit blur as I still hadn't gotten over my jetlag. I only got one class on Monday and that gives me time to rest and look for houses to move in. I think in the end, Emma and I decide to move into a furnished house with three other students. If we were to move into a house, it would be troublesome as the house would be unfurnished and we would have to spend a lot on buying or renting the furniture.

Clubs Day was on Tuesday and Wednesday. As usual, people flocked around the S block and C block lawn to join clubs or meet new people. I was there to explain about ICF to people. I think I didn't really explain a lot but they signed up anyway. I told Gen that I will just sit there to look pretty and she can explain. Haha. I joined CMSA (Msian Society). One of friends came over to ICF table to ask if Emma and I are joining. I guess he didn't give a chance to say no, got us to fill in the form. Got the shirt as well, I have thrown it into one of my boxes so we'll just have to wait till I moved out and unpack. I am too lazy to unpack as I am moving on Friday.

I had my 300 level Stats classes and I think I am really blur in class. Mian.. it is really hard. Just hope to do ok in class and pass. :) Got Geol labs as well and it is shorter than last year's lab by 30 minutes. I sat alone as my friends ditched me to go to the other streams. I couldn't take the their streams as I got class before that. So I finish at 6pm and so very hungry. After coming back from labs, found that ICF exec should go to CU bbq to 'show face'. I thought I should go along as I am one of the exec. What a day.

I have been pushing my sleeping time at night. I feel that I don't do anything at night if I sleep early. Most of my classes this year are in the afternoon. Well, some are in the morning. But it's all because of my labs which is why I finish later than Em. She has most classes in the morning. This year, it seems like both of us swapped timetables. She used to have classes in the afternoon and I used to have morning classes. Sigh, now I better go as I have hair appointment.

Back

So, the year has officially started. My flight back to Christchurch was delayed due to something in Sidney. And the flight wasn't as smooth as the previous ones. Great, it was the last leg of the journey. The weather was really nice but it was probably due to the turbulence occuring in the middle of the journey. I nearly vomitted. I was holding in and waited till after I get my luggage. Mer and Em came to pick me up.

At home, I showered and got ready to go see other friends and go to church later that evening. Yup, no rest and sleep. I wanted to save it for that night. Yes, I was really tired by 9pm. I thought I was going to sleep for straight 12 hours but no, I just had to wake up at midight, 3am and finally 6am. I couldn't sleep after that. So, woke up to chat with aunty Olivia and Uncle Marvin.

Em had class at 8am so I followed her. After her class, I went off to pay the fees and went to the bank. Right after that, it was taking new student card. It was really nice to see some friends working there. I was allowed to take photos a few times if I wasn't satisfied. Oh, I haven't had my class yet. Starts at 12, which is like now. Ah, gotta go.

Rants

Hmm.. I haven't been out from house since the 'shopping spree' day. Maybe it was tired-ness but I should it's mostly laziness. I have been bum-ming around with just watching tv, reading and going online. Well, can't blame myself for being that lazy. I mean, this is my holidays after all. I am supposed to enjoy my holidays right?

Well, this also means I won't have anything to blog about. I don't go anywhere so there's nothing much to talk about. Well, who cares ah. I will have something to blog about soon when Lynn Wei is here. She planned to go to Stonehenge. I also want to go to. I know it's about looking at rocks but the rocks have meanings. It will be interesting. I should find out more about it and blog about it.

I was reading Lynthia's blog and she described about our trip to Paris and also to Edinburgh. Actually, I never really describe what we do and whatsoever. I always upload those photos up only. I should try to improve more on blogging about it. Hmm.. gives me ideas on blogging. Now, this just reminds me of posting up about semester 2 2007.

New Year photos

Here are New Year eve photos. I was wondering about the words beside the upload photos button, it says you have upload 21% of photo. So what happens if I got 100%. Can I still upload more photos? Getting worried about that. Hmm..

Some of the photos are in Sherp's blog. Go there for more photos. I do have to choose my photos carefully because my mum doesn't like her photos being put up at my blog so I am trying not to put her photos.

I was commented to like pointing at things. It's just one of many pose. I got it from Lynthia. Hehe..

Me food.

Sherp with her beloved prawns.

Ivy was trying to be funny so she became a walrus.

Both are showing off their prawns.

Even her? Sigh...

Reading about what others talking about resolutions make me kind of very determined to try to fulfill my resolutions this year.

Cute... Not

I am being a bit 'perasan' with that title. But I just find myself in this photo looks sad. Don't you think so?

I want to say I am bored but I am not. I think I ran out of ideas of what to blog about.
Oh ya, that reminds me that I have to blog about new year eve dinner photos and also another half year blog post of 2007 in Christchurch.
So much for thinking that I ran out of ideas of blogging.

Resolution

I think it is time I should say something about my new year and resolution. So far, I haven't really thought hard about my resolutions. I only decide that I should talk more instead of being shy shy. In other words, more sociable. I know I only talk so much in certain group of friends. Oh ya, I just thought of another resolution, make sure I click on spellings and grammar before I post my blog. I think there are more mistakes this year than the previous years.

Anyways, what's been happening these few days? Did I mention about Christmas? We went over to dad's friend house for Christmas lunch. I ate till I was so full. Food was really nice. It does feel like Chinese New Year because there were the pretty containers-like-CNY. The day before, we went to the church midnight mass. Now, I jumbled up the calendars.

Before New Year eve, Sherp, Ivy, Osbert and I went to Science Museum and Natural History Museum. Our main priority of going there was just to watch the 3D Cinema and go on the Sim-Ex simulator. If it wasn't for a complimentary ticket, we wouldn't have go on the Sim-Ex simulator. It just wasn't worth paying for those. I will put up photos on the next post or so.

New Year eve night, we had steamboat. Yum.. I love eating steamboat. We also had mee sua the day before. Was it the day before? Hmm.. I cannot remember.

This was supposed to be my first post for this year. Since it I did not change the time from NZ to London time, it means that I have 3 other posts before this. Nevermind.

Second week

Don't you realise sometimes when you go on holidays, you tend to take photos of the surroundings. For me, I used to take lots and just leave it in the computer after I have come back from the holidays. Sometimes I think, what is the use of taking so many when I don't even at least put it as the desktop background photo. Hmm..

Anyway, my relatives are coming here on Saturday. Can't wait for them to come. Mum is taking them around London next week. Don't think I am going since I have to stay at home to cook food when they, dad and sis come back from touring, work and school.

Hmm.. I am wondering how friends in NZ are doing. Some have left for Malaysia and some chose to stay back in NZ. I hope they are all doing fine. I haven't make any effort to message them on facebook. I have been lazying around at home. I slept so much ever since I come back. And I do enjoy my sleep very much. And oh, I dreamt so much too. I remember dreaming about friends in NZ and back in Malaysia. I don't know why in the world I dreamt about that. I better enjoy my sleep and lazying around this holidays. :)

This is my second week back already.

Updates

Time really flies fast when you are enjoying your time, anywhere and anytime. It has been a week since I arrived London. Well, not exactly a week today but tomorrow. I basically just sleeps, eat, watch tv and go online. What a lazy thing to do. I should do something useful. I did help my mum out by vacuuming the house and washing the dishes. I accompanied mum to groceries shopping and spending a bit of time at library. I also read newspapers. Now, it should be useful? Hmm.. I hope so.

Anyway, on Saturday, it was my sis 2's birthday and we started out the day with a call from a friends family in NZ to wish happy birthday to Kim. Both had birthday wishes from each other as their birthdays falls on the same day. It was such a co-incidence having the same birthday date. Actually, both are a year apart. Hehe.

Sis 2 had a friend sleepover that night. Sis 1 asked her friends over to spend time at the same time and decide to go ice skating. In the end, they changed their plans to watch movie and play bowling. But, the session they want to book is at 11pm. It was only 8 something that time. So, knowing the kids couldn't stay up that long, we decided to just play the arcade games and play pool. 10pm, we decided to leave for home and walked to a nearby restaurant for supper, leaving sis 2 and her friend at home. After supper, we all came back to play games. As I was still jetlag, I went to bed early.

Dad came back the next day. Sis 1 got a new laptop and sis 2 got a new handphone. Wow, I got to see my daddy. :) His first reaction when he saw me is wow, you look like one of the 'orang putih'. Haha. Anyway, can't wait to see the Wong family on Saturday. It's Monday now so 4 more days.
