It has been a while since I last posted here. But here goes.. so we are in the year of 2015 and everyone seems to be starting new 'life' eg new job, new marriage, babies etc.
For me, it is looking for challenge. So my secondment role is ending this month and I am moving back to my previous department but not my previous role. I will be doing what I am currently doing. It's still good but my resolution for this year is to challenge myself.
I shall start off by looking for more challenges in jobs. As for everyday, I suppose I will try to be fit as possible.
So this is where I wanted to rant. It is so hard finding a job that you want in the place where you want to stay. Pros and cons. There are people who have it easy for them, no need to work hard and get paid lots or they can interview well but don't work hard. Damn frustrating. I am one of the ones who doesn't interview well but works hard and reliable.
And then there is the part where you want to try something different from your expertise and you can't even get in. Example, hubby is working as a account manager sales and wants to try business improvement type of jobs. Have the lean six sigma qualification and projects done but can't even get into those jobs. Damn frustrating because you want to get into it to be experience and you can't get in because they want experience.
How annoying!
So if he is to find those jobs elsewhere, we have to move? Just had our house and need to move? I want to bring my house if we have to move and I can't. How damn frustrating.
Enough rant and back to job hunting process. I found one that I will apply and hope I will get in. Something that I do really want. Let's hope for the best.

Job Interview
2 months ago, I applied for a job thinking that they won't call me for an interview. This was from a company which I have been applying ever since I graduated from university.
So, they did finally called me up for an interview which I was really excited. I finally got the chance to prove myself.
The short story, I didn't get the job but that is ok. It has been 5 years since I finished and I barely remember anything about what I studied. I wanted to say they reached out too late but I suppose there were so many graduates who may have applied for the roles in the company and they may have gotten them. I am also not good in interviews though I do work hard and am committed to my job. I guess that is a problem when the potential employers can't really see the real you before they hire you. I just have to practice hard on interviews and present myself well so potential employers will hire me.
So I saw this link on what to wear to a job interview. I agree that first impression is a must. I wore my work uniform for my interview and I got a compliment. I was happy that they notice. I think almost everyone knows to wear nicely when they go for job interviews. The article says to wear something that is comfortable and of yourself.

Just a
Just a short one today. A lot happened since Wednesday. Big thing, I crashed my car and it looked like a total loss. Damn.. now I have to get a new car. I lodge a claim for the accident and now I am just waiting for them to finalize everything.
Hubby had his own big day. He had his interview. Done well himself so just waiting for them to come back to him if he passed through the first interview. Hopefully they ask for second interview or they could just give him the job offer. Lol our department is going to be so sad to lose him.
Oh and today I got another great news. I am going over to BD to do project work. Yay.. I can't wait. I would like to work with them because it is a project based work. I am not saying that it's not nice working in my department. Just saying that it is a good opportunity for me to be in a different role. I wanted to move on and do something new/different so I can add colour to my CV. Experience is good too. Anyway, I shall stop.. it's supposed to be short.

Job stuff
I found this link about pay rise beating inflation. Not sure if it is relevant to anyone but here goes. Good article to read though.
Another one that I found too. It is about NZ on short on right type of skills.
Any articles relating job stuff interests me and I like to save the links for the future, either to share with my readers or for myself. I do keep some interesting articles from newspaper too.

Employment
Check out this article. Sounds so horrible to think that there are no jobs out there. I think it depends on what sort of jobs you are looking for. I have been keeping an eye out for jobs around Christchurch. It is pretty hard to find professional jobs like what was mentioned in the article. But there are simple jobs like administration, data entry or sales support, etc.
Look at me. I can't even get an interview for my profession in Christchurch. But if I do go out of Christchurch, I think I can get interview, just not the job. Nowadays everyone has a degree so I think potential employers tend to want experience and skills.
I am feeling sleepy so shall go to bed. It's darling's birthday on Sunday. He get to decide what he wants to do this weekend.

New role
Yes, here I am. I will tell you about the new role I am going to be doing. It is only temporary so sort of a project. I will be moving to another department to help out with the workload. Two of their staff were promoted to do another role so yes, they will be under staff. I suppose that is why I am being sent over there to help out. I started in the department when I first joined IAG. I am quite excited because the work will be different to what I have been doing. =)

Not sure
I saw this article on stuff.co.nz today. It does sounds like australia has jobs to offer for kiwis. Gosh, if all kiwis go over there, then what will become of NZ? I don't mean it in a bad way. I meant that NZ shouldn't lose too many people. I know it's the economy crisis state but still..
Actually, I just thought of this, I know the pay in OZ is high but the stress and responsibility are more so is it worth it? Don't forget that if you have a family, you might not be able to spend a lot of time with family. I am just saying but it may vary for different people though. Oh living cost there will definitely be higher too. May have to squeeze in a house if living there just to save money for yourself or family. How about getting foambymail memory foam mattresses? Hoho.. don't forget that buying a house is also more expensvie.
By the way, the road change rule is changing on Sunday. I got this article here. I don't know how it is going to be like but I hope it won't cause traffic jam. I mean, from the way I see, it's going to cause traffic jam especially for the ones turning right. If the cars cannot turn right at the T-junction, then that's traffic jam. I hate to drive like that la and no cars to let you through. Ish.. it's like back to Msia rules where there's always traffic jam.

Another one
I got rejected by one of the bnz jobs. Sigh, I think I knew why I got rejected. It might be because I didn't have retail experience and sales experience. Well, I just have to keep trying. I guess it's hard for people to judge because they don't know if the person will do well if the person doesn't have the experience they are looking for. I have to start from somewhere in order to get experience but I have no idea where to start.
It's not that I am not satisfied in my current job, I just think that I should move on and do something different. I have to learn new skills for myself so that I can move forward otherwise I will be stuck doing the same thing again and again. But I don't know what I like to do. I want to do modelling stuff. I don't mean, model model. I meant stats modelling on computer progs. But the thing is, I don't have experience and people would rather get experience people. So yes, I cannot move forward without experience. Maybe I should learn courses on cash register express because it seems like I need retail and dealing with cash experience to get into banks. Hmm.. something to think about huh..
Anyway, I just found out from darling that he might have the opportunity to do a course from work that may possibly change his career role. So, that might work well if he got the opportunity. Yay for him. Please do pray for us. =)
